Process
My fused glass landscapes are composed of multiple layers of clear sheet glass, colored crushed glass (frit), and enamels. Sometimes I use a torch to form delicate strings of glass to include in the compositions. The artwork undergoes many kiln firings, with repeated applications of sheet glass, frit, enamels, and stringers. The result is a thick glass panel with a 3D image. Finally, they are slump-fired to achieve a free standing shape. LED back lighting is included.
Statement
It’s my intention to render the beauty of God’s creation into glass. I want to invite the viewer to cross a threshold into a place of tranquility.
